Megan's Photo Shoot

Our lavender bloom came on early this year due to the HOT summer we had. That meant I started to harvest lavender before our Lavender Festival. Which meant that took me off my regular routine getting ready for our Lavender Festival. Then with pre Festival, Festival and post Festival work, I forgot all about the Oregon Lavender Association's annual Photo Contest. It was the night before the Photo Contest deadline when I went through my photos and realized I hadn't taken any photos in the field, except the photo shoot I did with my granddaughter Megan.

Megan's photo shoot was during Camp Grandma after our Lavender Festival. Granddaughter Bailey had been here earlier in the summer and had her own photo shoot with a photographer. We went dress shopping and when we got home, Megan asked me if I'd take some pictures of her in the field like Bailey's photo shoot.

It turned out it was just me and Megan, the other kids were hanging out and not interested. It was getting late and the sun was setting, but we had a good time together. I pretended I knew what I was doing and she was a great model.

Megan is sweet, fun, has great style and good ideas.

I submitted five of the photos I took of Megan to the OLA Photo Contest, but this shoot wasn't about the contest, {remember, I'd forgotten about it}. It was a fun and special time, that just the two of us had together and that is better than winning a photo contest. I'm happy that we have these photos to help us remember Megan's photo shoot in the field.

We did it! We made it through our third Lavender Festival.
Thank You to ALL who visited us during our Lavender Festival.
Here's our Thompson Family Crew that came in for the weekend to help us meet,
greet, direct traffic, answer lavender questions and run our store.

It's so close, in fact I think it's already here, I've been looking for signs for weeks.
I claimed it was going to be an early spring because we were having some very warm days, then I started to see the signs. Violets were blooming, our daffodils were half way up, frogs were croaking, ants were back and then I saw it,
there was a bee on my kitchen window screen.
I'm getting excited for what spring means for me.

Flowers will bloom

First it was violets

Then our first daffodil bloomed last week.

There will be new babies

Our 2012 Olde English Babydoll Lambs

Our calves will arrive late this year

Punxsutawney Phil said it will be an early spring this year. I was planning to predict that, but he beat me to it. We had such a wintery January this year I was thinking maybe that would bring on an early spring, but

I caught this little guy singing on the branches covered with pogonip. It's ice fog that's caused by fine ice crystals suspended in the air and occurs rarely during cold winter spells.

We had a snowy and icy January.

I loved capturing these photos in our yard.

I heard many complain as the cold weather lingered for a few days, but I enjoyed it. Even tonight when my nose and toes were freezing after doing farm chores. I thought this quote was appropriate to add to this photo of our lavender field once covered in snow.
